shadow our black catShadow is the first of our cats. She is very cute, has soft silky black fur, adores being stroked and purrs very softly. More of a house cat in the day, but enjoys exploring the land at our Gite at night and climbing onto the roof.

Bloofield named after my football teams home groundBloomfield (named after Blackpool Football Club's ground.) is another of our cats. She is more of an outside cat than Shadow, but does enjoy a stroke and a cuddle when she wants one. She is very inquisitive and can often be seen running around the garden and climbing trees. She also likes to fall asleep on the top of cars.

NatashaThis is Natasha, who is full of mischief and had to be rescued from the inside of the Gite's chimney stack once. If only we could get her to sit still long enough to get a better photo. Like the rest of the cats she is a good mouser and likes to keep out of the way for peace and quiet and can be often found fast asleep at the end of our bed.

Umma the black labradore Umma is our black 4 year old Labrador. She is very friendly and loves to be stroked and fussed over. She loves to chase after her favorite squeaky beer can toy, and she is very fast. She is a typical Labrador with a very good temperament, is very good with children and loves to be the center of attention.

geese and free range chickens at our giteThese are just some of our free range chickens at our Gite in front of their new coop (made from box unit off a lorry. We could not find an old Citroen 2CV which is the norm in these parts!!!!) We have 7 brown chickens, 2 white, 2 speckled hens and 6 black ones. They lay eggs daily and the free range eggs taste great. The geese just couldn't resist getting in the photo. Proper little toots and typical of our geese as they like to know what's going on and they also make fantastic guard geese as many of our self catering guests have found out to their surprise. It has happened before and It won't be the last time that a visitor to our Gite will be chased by the geese. They won't harm you but can give you a bit of a shock when you see 3 geese charging towards you at full speed with wings outstretched and are honking loudly.

Our geese are called spot, tickle, and campbell. .JPGThese are our geese. We have two females called Spot and Tickle and a gander called Campbell, they all have blue eyes. Campbell is over 2 years old and he very protective of his ladies . We hope to get some goslings in the near future as both the girls have been laying eggs. There eggs are also very tasty, and just about fit into the egg-cups. Spot can be be stroked and picked up when she wants to, but Tickle is not as sociable as Spot. They are very funny when they are in their own private swimming pool, a corner bath no less.

Just a couple of our rabbitsThese are are just two of our 12 rabbits or more. We started with two..hhhhmmm. We have 3 males and 9/10 females last time we counted.. The head male rabbit is called Buck. They are cute and very good at tunneling. Trying to catch them when they get out is very funny if not frustrating. Oh and there is a male amongst the females. The little blighter got passed our checks when we separated them. We have not spotted any baby rabbits yet but we have seen all the tell tale signs. They must be hidden underground in their burrows. If any survive with it being winter time remains to be seen but we could get a sudden increase in rabbit numbers come the spring. The Gite grounds could be overrun with rabbits and burrows.
